The refurbishment and extension of the existing centre was proposed when Sainsbury's decided to open their first store in Northen Ireland on the outskirts of Ballymena.

This led Crazy Prices to close their store within the centre which provided the opportunity for revitalisation in terms of quality, appearance and layout.
